Collaborative Governance - restoring effective representation

Socialism (collectivism) isn't the ONLY choice for effective program and service delivery. It's just the ONLY choice you've been offered.

The search for a 'new paradigm' in governance that 'adapts' the concepts of direct democracy and leads us to a point where 'individuals' rather than 'political parties' are expected to 'effectively collaborate' with each other to bring solutions to the governance of society - in an non-partisan requires that we must first learn to Take the 'politics' out of 'government'.

I can hear the nay-sayers immediately rush to 'pooh-pooh' the very notion that such collaboration is even within the realm of possibility. Certainly when we look at the competing political interests at play in our current system of governance - that would be a fair assumption to make. However I am going to make the case, from my experience and training in the field of creating and implementing 'cultural' change across organisations and within public/private partnerships - and demonstrate that such a level of non-political collaboration is not only possible - it is essential - to effective, progressive, de-centralized governance.

I am in my element here and trust you too can entertain and embrace the challenges of a 'cultural shift'.

The back story - one #PPC member

I'm in an odd position.

Politically.

I live in Francophone Beauce.

My husband's hometown.

We've raised our 2 children here

among their very large extended family.

They were educated in French despite having an English option.

This is my 2nd time living here. We're here to integrate.

I'm from London, Ontario

My mother is Qcoise, My Father of Irish descent.

Despite being functionally bilingual, I'm considered 'anglo'

Despite being Canadian, I'm considered by local Statists an 'outsider'.

I've lost employment positions because local politicos consider me 'inappropriate'

to work in  a field in which there remains a shortage of qualified professionals.

I've supported Maxime Bernier's vision & platform since 2006.

But I've done so online, not in the field, not door to door.

My presence would be detrimental if not well received.

I receive no newsletters from my EDA.

I was invited to an event once only to have the invitation revoked.

I registered my husband and I to attend another event

only to find our names were not on the list when we arrived.

You see the same 'Politicos' who consider me an 'outsider',

also support Maxime Bernier, and he ... them.

I understand politics.

So I limit my advocacy to online activity.

It's an odd situation but thankfully a satisfying one

I have a contribution to make. My 'riding' is twitter.

Can capitalism be justified on religious grounds? - Ayn Rand

There can be no more disastrous error—morally, philosophically and politically—than to assert that the ultimate justification of Capitalism rests on faith. To assert this is to announce that there is no rational justification for Capitalism, no rational arguments to support the principles which created this country—and that reason is on the side of the enemy.
The Communists claim that they are the champions of reason and science. If the Conservatives concede that claim and retreat into the realm of religion, it will be an act of intellectual abdication, the kind of intellectual surrender that the Communists’ irrational ideology could never have won on its own merits.

Separation of Church and State - Ayn Rand

Click image to read the caption
Political freedom requires a separation of church and state. This principle is often advocated, but seldom fully understood. Properly, this separation is rooted in the principle of intellectual freedom. It means that every individual should be free to think about and accept any idea he chooses.
To say that church is separate from state means that the state makes no evaluation of its citizens’ ideas, religious or otherwise. The state’s concern is only with men’s actions, specifically actions that trespass on individual rights. It neither persecutes nor tolerates nor promotes ideas—because it is unconcerned with ideas per se.

From the other direction, to say that state is separate from church, means that a citizen—including any faction of them, such as a church—is incapable of using the state’s coercive power to penalize or support ideas, religious or otherwise. If a citizen wants to hinder or support an idea, he must argue his case with others, not enact a law.

In a free society, government has no power to persecute or establish religious ideas because it has no power to police ideas as such. No one, including those in government, may force their ideas on anyone.

Pragmatist - Ayn Rand

The Pragmatists declared that
philosophy must be practical
and that practicality consists of
dispensing with all
absolute principles and standards

that there is
no such thing as
objective reality or permanent truth
that
truth is
that which works,

and its validity can be judged only by its consequences—
that no facts can be known with certainty in advance,
and anything may be tried by rule-of-thumb
that reality is not firm, but fluid and “indeterminate,”
that there is no such thing as a distinction between an external world and a consciousness
(between the perceived and the perceiver),

there is only an undifferentiated package-deal labeled “experience,”
and whatever one wishes to be true, is true,
whatever one wishes to exist, does exist,
provided it works or makes one feel better.

A later school of more Kantian Pragmatists amended this philosophy as follows. If there is no such thing as an objective reality, men’s metaphysical choice is whether the selfish, dictatorial whims of an individual or the democratic whims of a collective are to shape that plastic goo which the ignorant call “reality,”

therefore this school decided that
objectivity
consists of
collective subjectivism—
that
knowledge
is to be
gained by means of
public polls
among
special elites
of “competent investigators”
who can “predict and control” reality

that
whatever people wish to be true, is true,
whatever people wish to exist, does exist,
and
anyone who holds any firm convictions of his own
is an arbitrary, mystic dogmatist,
since
reality is indeterminate
and
people determine its actual nature.

You won't find THIS 19 year-olds comment from Saguenay in the mainstream press!

I want you to read this from my friend Yan Brassard :

I'm a young 19 year-old man from Saguenay Lac-Saint-Jean. I study in the Cégep de Jonquière. I live in the most unilingual and sovereignist region of the Quebec province. I know how it is to live in a place where bilinguism is devalued. My friends don't speaks English, my parents don't either. I wasn't raised in a bilingual family.

However, I know that English is the international language of business. I know that I'm living in a bilingual country with a majority of native English speakers. I know that Quebec's southern neighboring country is the United States of America, world's third biggest country, the number one economic superpower, but also the richest country in the world.

I don't think that isolationist policies promoting unilinguism and hatred of the English language will encourage Quebec industries to be successful around the world. I'm a huge fan of the French language. This is a truely beautiful language with a old history. I don't think there's any contradiction in appreciating our language and use the English language in a daily basis in our professionnal life. No, I wasn't raised in a bilingual area. That's why I have to put more energy in learning English than people who have the chance to live in a bilingual environment.

A faire lire à certains ados "révoltés".

Parasite social institutionnel

The Evil 1% - Llewellyn H. Rockwell, Jr.

The "occupy" protest movement is thriving off the claim that the 99% are being exploited by the 1%, and there is truth in what they say. But they have the identities of the groups wrong. They imagine that it is the 1% of highest wealth holders who are the problem. In fact, that 1% includes some of the smartest, most innovative people in the country – the people who invent, market, and distribute material blessings to the whole population. They also own the capital that sustains productivity and growth.

Authoritarian Government - Ayn Rand

It took centuries and a brain-stopping chain of falsehoods to bring a whole people to the state of Hitler-worship. Modern German culture, including its Nazi climax, is the result of a complex development in the history of philosophy, involving dozens of figures stretching back to the beginnings of Western thought. The same figures helped to shape every Western nation; but in other countries, to varying extents, the results were mixed, because there was also an opposite influence or antidote at work. In Germany, by the turn of our century, the cultural atmosphere was unmixed; the traces of the antidote had long since disappeared, and the intellectual establishment was monolithic.
(IS it inaccurate to observe that term 'monolithic'could also be applied to our political options in socialist Quebec ?)

  • to jointly make decisions about the rules that will govern their behavior and relationships;
